TEHRAN – Celebrated Iranian actress Fatemeh Motamed-Arya has been selected for the jury of the Colombo International Film Festival, which will be held in the Sri Lankan commercial capital from October 6 to 11.

German cineaste Klaus Eder will preside over the jury panel, which also includes Jeffrey Jeturian from the Philippines, Na Renhua from China and Max Tessier from France.

Motamed-Arya has received a nomination for the best actress at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) for her role in Iranian director Morteza Farshbaf’s acclaimed drama, “Avalanche”. APSA winners will be announced in Brisbane, Australia on November 26.

The Colombo International Film Festival Iranian will screen Iranian filmmaker Behtash Sanaiha’s social drama “Risk of Acid Rain” in the Asian Competition section.

“Risk of Acid Rain” is a minimal poetic story that addresses the ongoing human perplexities of love, death and sexuality.

It tells the story of Manuchehr, a 60-year-old retiree from the Iranian Tobacco Company, who still insists on going to work while he grapples with the loneliness of retirement.

The movie won the best script award at the 2015 Fajr International Film Festival, and the NETPAC Award at the 4th Persian International Film Festival, which was held in Australia in early September.
